Acting ~ Welcome to the world of theatre!  All of our Acting classes aim to help students gain confidence on stage, develop teamwork skills, and build friendships.  We teach students to utilize their Actor's Toolbox to make strong choices with their physicality, voice, and posture to bring characters to life while exploring their personality, conflicts, motivations, and desires through character analysis.  Students will work on monologues, duo scenes, and in-class plays based on their reading ability and experience level, as well as play drama games, improv exercises, and physical and vocal warmups.  Acting classes for kids and teens help students with their creativity, public speaking and listening skills, fine and gross motor skills, and awareness of their bodies and the physical space around them. Young actors will learn the importance of collaboration, risk-taking, and using their imagination as they hone both acting skills and life skills! Acting students will perform in Winter Cabaret in December and Spring Showcase in May.

SING! Show Choir ~ Vocal technique is all about releasing unnecessary body tension and strain, learning to harness and utilize the breath efficiently, training your ear to hear harmonies and blend with other voices, developing the ability to hit and maintain accurate pitches, creating resonance to achieve a wonderful sound, and telling the story of each song through the energy and emotion you bring to each performance! Reading sheet music and learning music theory build a solid foundation for students to use in the future if they play an instrument, join school chorus, or perform in Forefront MainStage productions or other shows at school.  SING! Show Choir combines choral singing with super-fun choreography for the best of both worlds – great vocal technique and powerhouse performances. The Choir will work on a variety of vocal material from classics to Broadway, pop hits to Disney favorites, and perform in 2 concerts each year.

Musical Theatre Dance Foundations ~ Ballet, Jazz, and Musical Theatre units help our students become well-rounded musical theatre performers. Our dance programs focus on quality instruction, skill development, strength, technique and conditioning while teaching the building blocks of musical theater dance.  Dance students will perform in Winter Cabaret in December and Spring Showcase in May.

Tip Top Tap ~ Tap Dance is a vital skill that every Musical Theatre performer should have!  We'll focus on rhythm & movement, coordination & listening skills, and mastering core tap terms & steps.  **Tip Top Tap students have the opportunity to perform a Tap number in SHREK THE MUSICAL as well as 2 recitals!

Mini Musicals ~ our most popular class!  Mini Musicals are a great stepping stone for Musical Theatre students who aren't yet ready for the commitment of joining MainStage Performance Company. Each semester you'll work on material from Broadway musicals, build your  Acting, Dance, and Vocal performance skills, play improv & drama games, learn some general theatre technique, and put it all together in a performance at the end of each semester!

Improv & Theatre Games ~ this class is a great introduction to improv & theatre for young performers! They'll boost confidence & collaboration skills while playing tons of theatre games, develop problem solving skills through exciting team challenges, and create their own characters, storylines, and scenes while learning the 10-Improv-Commandments. They'll perform in the recital at the end of each semester so you can see their Improv skills come to life in front of a crowd!

Teen Improv  ~ 6th-12th graders will love this class! Through tons of theatre games & improv exercises they'll boost their comedic acting skills, performance technique, and physical comedy ability! They'll play drama games with their buddies, learn the “rules” of improv, write sketch comedy scenes, and maybe even learn how to improvise an original song in the middle of an improv scene!  They'll perform in the recital at the end of each semester so you can see their Improv skills come to life in front of a crowd!

Youtube Creative Film Club  ~ Lions and tigers and dinosaurs and sinking ships OH MY! This club is perfect for movie buffs and young actors alike! Students will learn about acting technique specifically for film, TV, and web projects, creating short form content, acting in commercials, improvising scenes, and filming & producing digital content!  Throughout the year they'll create, produce, and film projects which will be posted on the Forefront Arts youtube channel to share with kids and teens around the world!
